Day 7: Our lilac summer.

Bosnia (I think 2007).

Honey-gold bubbly twinkles in our flutes.

The amber glow of the fire, our only company.

We cheers to new beginnings and, though I’m far from pious, I silently thank God for you.

Knew I liked you mid-July because you use Helvetica and call me darlin’.

Knew I loved you end of August because you close your eyes when you listen to jazz and you danced with me to Janis barefoot on the sand.

Because of you, I dot perfume behind my ears. You mentioned once that you like my lilac musk, said the smell reminds you of home and now of falling in love.

Song: Summertime — Janis Joplin, Big Brother & The Holding Company

Some songs just need to be listened to with your eyes closed.
